That’s why Bimeda Ireland was pleased to introduce separate food bins to all three of its premises, allowing for food waste to be composted rather than sent to landfill.
Food waste in landfill generates the potent greenhouse gas methane. When food waste is composted instead, methane emissions are significantly reduced.
The compost created through this process is used as fertiliser in agriculture.
