They recently identified an opportunity to remove non-recyclable shrink wrap from an internal process.

The team reviewed their process for storing WIP (unlabelled) products manufactured at their site and became aware that shrink wrap was used unnecessarily.

Product was stored in strong, sealable, plastic boxes, which were then wrapped in shrink wrap. The shrink wrap was later discarded when the products went to be labelled.

However, upon conducting a thorough review of this process, the production team in Brazil realised that the sealable plastic boxes met all of the requirements for the correct storage of WIP, and the shrink wrap was superfluous to requirements. They have since ceased using shrink wrap as part of this process, which means 2,400 metres of non-recyclable plastic is no longer used.
